Creekview High School
Established in 2023, The Creekview High School MTB Team is the newest member of the Blankets Creek Family of teams. All student-athletes of Creekview High School as well as current students and rising 6th graders for the 2024-2025 school year that will attend Creekland Middle School are eligible to join the team.
The Blankets Creek Family of teams all practice together twice a week (Monday and Thursday evenings) which allows us to place the riders into groups of similar riding abilities from across all six teams. It is a highlight of the coaches every year to watch close bonds and friendships between riders from different schools grow from the common ground of wanting to ride bikes. We'll often see the riders on the trails during the off-season just get together to ride the trails. No racing, no competition, just having fun with friends in the great outdoors.
The practices will rotate weekly between Blankets Creek and the Olde Rope Mill trails. The individual teams may occasionally have another practice on the weekends for some 'team time', and those are typically held at other trail systems.
Dan grew up on a farm in Jefferson, GA where he excelled in basketball and has coached the sport many years. He was introduced to mountain biking by his daughter in 2017 when she asked to join the newly formed mountain bike team in Jefferson. The next year he and his family moved to Canton, which is home to some of the southeasts best trails. He became a coach and learned right along with the kids how to maneuver obstacles. The joy the kids find in this lifelong sport is what keeps him wanting to continue to coach each year. He does an awesome job of meeting the kids at their level and helping them to reach their goals, whether that is to get on the podium or to get over that root on South Loop. His primary focus as the head coach is the kids: practice plans and goals.
As you might have guessed, Harlee and Dan are married. And Harlee's bio is very similar to Dan's....Except the excelling in basketball and the living on a farm part. Although, she played many sports in high school, she would have LOVED being on a mountain bike team!! Harlee is so thankful that when uprooting their life in Jefferson, the family found new purpose and community within the Creek Fam. Her primary focus as Team Director is administration. While she also is thrilled to see the kids, coaches and parents smiling faces as their riders meet goals and beat the obstacles, she's the one behind the scenes pushing out registration information, getting practice shirts and jerseys ordered.....all the mundane tasks that help make the seasons successful.
